At Scotgold, we examine how our business practices affect:

  • our employees, customers, consultants and visitors
  • the local community
  • the environment in which we work
  • human rights

The three broad areas on which we focus are:

  1. Health, Safety and Welfare of the Community, Employees, Consultants and Visitors

This includes:

  • a demonstration of compliance with all relevant health & safety, employment and data protection legislation.
  • development of an engaged and informed workforce who are fully cognisant with health and safety in the workplace
  • an ongoing training and development programme for all staff
  • overseeing all policies and procedures and ensuring compliance
  • supporting the health and wellbeing of employees through an Occupational Health Scheme, Employee Assistance Programme and regular meetings between managers and staff
  • committing to equal opportunities and data protection across all employment practices

 

  1. Stewardship of the Environment

Ensuring:

  • Efficient and effective waste management
  • Prevention of leakage or seeping into waterways
  • Secure storage of explosives and trained operatives to handle these
  • Trialling new technical solutions to discover environmentally friendly ways of working
  • Expeditious implementation of the Greater Cononish Glen Management Plan
  • Timely payment of pledges made under the Planning Gain Bond

 

  1. Corporate Citizenship and Societal Interaction

By:

  • Supporting local businesses and initiatives wherever economically possible
  • Supporting young people in education and providing opportunities for learning
  • Supporting local services such as schools, nurseries and children’s activities
  • Providing employment for local people
  • Holding regular meetings with local community groups
  • Timely payment of pledges made to the Strathfillan Community Development Trust
  • Compliance with the Scottish Business Pledge
  • Timely response to social media / stakeholder / shareholder communications linked with CSR
